We are glad to announce that we have received news from Swatch regarding the release of a new collection of special edition watches in collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) of New York as a part of the broader “Museum Journey” collection of Swatch that already includes pieces in collaboration with the Louvre, the Rijksmuseum, the Thyssen museum and more! - the watches will be available starting March 4, 2021!
Thiw special collection includes six unique creations inspired by works of art that currently reside in the MoMA, among which The Starry Night (1889) of Vincent van Gogh, Hope, II (1907-1908) by Gustav Klimt, The Dream (1910) by Henri Rousseau, the Composition in Oval with Color Planes 1 (1914) of Piet Mondrian, The City and Design, The Wonders of Life on Earth, Isamu Kurita (1966) by Tadanori Yokoo, and New York (1968) by Tadanori Yokoo.
Three of the watches are in Gent size and three in New Gent size and all of them come in special, dedicated boxes that carry a print of the related work of art and details on the work and the artists life.
The Swatch x MoMA watches are available individually but also in a highly limited collector’s edition box that has all siz models. Swatch and the MoMA created a unique special package for the collector’s edition that is inspired by the famous Blade Stair, that is one of the most recognised architectural characteristics of the MoMA.
